Kybella before and after

Say Goodbye to a Double Chin with Kybella

Kybella is an injectable treatment that is specifically used for the treatment of fat cells under the chin, submental fat, or what is more commonly known as the double chin.

The treatment is a non-surgical method of achieving an enhanced appearance – however the fact that is non-surgical does not mean that any lesser standards are applied.

Kybella, fully FDA approved, can only be administered by a specially trained – Genevieve Beauty & Wellness being one with this accreditation.

What is Kybella?

The active ingredient in Kybella is a synthetic copy of a molecule that occurs naturally in the body and works to break down fat. After being injected into fat deposits, Kybella quickly destroys fat cells so that they are permanently unable to store fat in that particular area.

What are the benefits of using Kybella?

Less invasive than double chin surgery
Natural and very safe
Short recovery period with mild swelling under the chin

What type of results can I anticipate from Kybella treatment?

Results vary from person to person and multiple sessions are recommended (if the fatty deposit is larger) to gradually reduce the unwanted chin fat. As the body expels the chin fat, slimming of the area occurs over the next 8 weeks. An added benefit is tightening the overlying skin in most cases.

How many treatments are recommended?

The answer to this question depends on the amount of fat you want to remove, your skin condition, and your age. A minimum of 2 treatments will be required. The precise number of treatments needed will depend on how much excess fat is present. Most patients will require between 2-4 treatments, however in some instances up to 6 treatments will be required by some patients to completely eliminate their double chin.

A minimum of 6 weeks is required between treatments. Results are assessed 6 weeks after each treatment to determine if further treatments are indicated.

Once the desired aesthetic result has been achieved, no further treatments will be required.

How long do results last?

Results are permanent; however, excessive weight gain can diminish the results

What can I expect during my appointment?

Once your provider maps and ices the treatment area, they will make multiple quick injections with Kybella. Your treatment time will be less than 45 minutes. Since Kybella is a non-surgical procedure, you should not expect any significant downtime or disruption to your daily routine following treatment. The most common side effects of Kybella include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area. This can last for several weeks, but many of our clients find that these side effects are minimal and easily hidden with scarves or makeup.

When can I return to normal activity and what can I expect post-treatment?

Resume normal activities immediately post-treatment

Avoid any strenuous exercise immediately post-treatment

Who should not have Kybella treatment?

Kybella treatment is not recommended for use in pregnant or lactating women, anyone with a history of an allergic reaction, and/or who are hypersensitive to the medication or any of its active ingredients (deoxycholic acid, benzyl alcohol, dibasic sodium phosphate, hydrochloric acid, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide), as well as anyone with infected or inflamed skin, bleeding disorders, individuals with a tendency to produce excessive scarrings such as keloids and/or hypertrophic scars, unrealistic expectations, excessive skin laxity, autoimmune diseases, vascular disease, and conditions that cause delayed healing.

What are the potential side effects of Kybella treatment?
