Skin Rejuvenation Using Your Own Plasma
PRP therapy has been used in many medical specialties for over 30 years. These include cardiac surgery, wounds care, sports medicine, neurosurgery, general surgery, orthopedics, dentistry, and cosmetics.
The end result is an appearance that looks significantly younger or quicker healing of wounds and scars. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is obtained from your blood; this contains platelets that work in the body to repair damage by clogging up cuts and tears. Platelets also have growth factors on the surface which stimulate collagen production when injected into the skin.
PRP is injected into the skin to stimulate new collagen production and to re-energize your cells into rejuvenating themselves. It can be used as an anti-aging treatment. It can be combined with microneedling for a more superior result. It can be used everywhere on the body- hair loss, face, neck, décolleté, stretch marks, and scars.
How Does PRP Treatment Work?
A small amount of blood is drawn from your vein into a sterile tube. The tube is placed into a centrifuge and spun so that the plasma and platelets are separated. The plasma and concentrated platelets are then removed from the tube and a PRP injection is made into areas of your skin that need treatment.
Areas of Treatment:
How Long Does the Treatment Take?
Improvement of skin texture and tone are noticeable within 3 weeks. Full collagen regeneration takes up to 3 months. Mild swelling may be seen immediately. Over the days and weeks, the platelets will release growth factors and pre-stem cells which will assist in more collagen growth.
How Long Do Results Last?
Responses to treatment vary but most conditions will require 1-3 sessions usually 4-6 weeks apart. The results can last up to 18 months. There is no limit to the number of treatments you can have for skin rejuvenation and maintaining youth but touch-up treatments will maintain the results.
